1.3 - What kind of data does Pantas require in order to calculate carbon emissions?

Pantas Carbon Accounting Solution will require a description of the activity, good or service that is being purchased or carried out, its location, quantity (volume, mass, etc.), the unit for the quantity provided, spend value, the currency for the spend value provided and the reporting period (e.g., December 2022).

Pantas provides a customised end-to-end white glove solution where we work with the client throughout the entire process - from setup to report generation. Companies have access to dedicated account managers, engineers and climate experts that provide support wherever necessary.

1.4 - How does Pantas collect and calculate carbon emissions?

Pantas collects the information required via data extraction (from ERP/accounting software) through API and a customised climate data collection tool (CDCT).

Once the required data (for the reporting period) are collected, Pantas Carbon Accounting Solution will automatically analyse, clean and check for errors/anomalies and subsequently compile them to generate the respective emission reports.

1.5 - What types of reports does Pantas generate?

Pantas Carbon Accounting Solution generates an GHG emissions executive report and a GHG emissions assurance report per reporting period (e.g. Jan 2022 - Dec 2022).

Pantas’ GHG emissions executive report is a document that contains the company’s total calculated emissions broken down by Scope, Category, Location, Subsidiary, etc. It is a highly customized report that will be tailored based on client needs.

Pantas’ GHG emissions assurance report is an assurance-ready document that comprehensively details all the emission line items that make up the company’s total calculated emissions. It provides more detailed reporting as compared to the summary report as it also contains the relevant backup data required for third party verification/assurance (e.g., calculation method, emission factor used, emission factor source).

1.6 - Is Pantas aligned with local and international standards?

Yes, Pantas Carbon Accounting Solution is committed to adhering to leading local and international standards for carbon accounting. Our software solution and carbon calculation methodologies are built upon the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and support reporting in accordance with major frameworks, including TCFD, SBTi, CDP, and GRI. Furthermore, our solution is independently verified under the ISO 14064-1 standard by the British Standards Institution (BSI).

Pantas is also the first software company in Asia to achieve PCAF (Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials) accreditation. This accreditation specifically supports financial institutions with their financed emissions (Scope 3 Category 15) accounting efforts. Learn more about our PCAF accreditation

1.7 - Is my data secure on Pantas?

Our system is designed with your security as the utmost priority. We secure your data by protecting your access, the data in storage and data in transit. Controls and procedures are in place that exceed the standards recommended by PCI-DSS as well as other industry standards and practices.

We conduct our own scans regularly across all our production environments, looking for missing patches and vulnerabilities. A certified independent third party scans all our production environments quarterly to ensure there is no penetrations.

We follow alerts issued by various parties and security groups, especially on newly found vulnerabilities, also known as 'zero-day vulnerabilities'. We subscribe to a security exploit alerting system managed by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) which is an operational component under the Department of Homeland Security of the United States of America (https://www.cisa.gov/uscert).

We maintain an intrusion prevention software framework that protects computer servers from brute-force attacks on all our production systems and networks. Our firewall policies are reviewed periodically to ensure that only legitimate traffic is allowed in.

We protect sensitive data in transit with strong encryption and selectively use data at rest encryption, tokenisation, and data masking.

Our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is PCI level 1 compliant and has completed the industry standard on System and Organisation Controls (SOC) for SOC 1, SOC 2 and SOC 3 certifications. This includes controls and processes such as multi-factor authentication, role-based access controls (RBAC), highly redundant utilities, and strict change management processes.

1.8 - Is Pantas solely focused on calculating carbon emissions?

Pantas offers end-to-end climate solutions, assisting our clients in measuring, managing and disclosing their carbon footprint.

Our services also include:

  • Assisting clients with climate reporting and verification with international climate organizations such as CDP and Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
  • Assisting clients to develop carbon-neutral products

2. OCR

2.1 FAQ for OCR Extraction Failure Troubleshooting

  1. Scope of Supported Documents

Our OCR system is optimised for documents that it has learned from, specifically TNB bills (both physical and online bills). The system may struggle to accurately process documents that differ significantly from the data it has been taught to understand.

If you frequently use a specific type of document that is critical for your operations, please inform us. Your feedback is invaluable, and with adequate samples of your documents, we can improve our OCR system to better process them in the future.

    Sample Bills Format Currently Supported:

    • Physical TNB Bill
    • Online TNB Bill
  2. Unsupported Languages

Ensure that the uploaded documents are in a supported language for accurate OCR results. Our OCR system is taught to recognise specific languages such as English and Bahasa Melayu. Documents in languages not currently supported may not be processed correctly, leading to failed or inaccurate data extraction.

If you frequently use a specific type of document that is in languages not currently supported, please inform us. Your feedback is invaluable, and with adequate samples of your documents, we can improve our OCR system to better process them in the future.

  3. Poor Attachment Quality

Ensure that the attachment is clear, well-lit and high-resolution. Our OCR system relies heavily on the quality of the image to accurately recognize and extract the right values. Blurry, pixelated or low-resolution images can result in failed or inaccurate data extraction.

  4. Partial Scanning of a Document

If a document is only partially scanned, the OCR system may fail to capture all the necessary text, leading to failed or incorrect data extraction. Ensure that the entire document is fully visible in the uploaded attachment.

  5. Image Orientation

Images that are skewed, rotated, or otherwise not properly aligned can cause errors. Ensure that the text in the image is straight and properly oriented.

  6. Complex Backgrounds

A document with text overlaid on a busy, patterned background can cause errors, as it can make it hard for the OCR system to distinguish the text from the background.

3. Not applicable data

3.1 Difference between 'Not applicable and 0 value' for Emission & ESG Data

Not applicable:

This activity does not exist yet or no longer exists, or the data could not be collected. Example: The asset or vehicle has not been acquired or has been sold.

0 value:

This data legitimately amounted to zero for this collection period. Example: The asset was not used, or the vehicle consumed 0 litres of diesel, during this period.
